The resident champions of PD, and donīt take that statement too seriously, battle it out on good old Painted Desert. Know to be the largest map that is played 1v1.

Playing this map requires a lot of micromanagement, attempting to keep cons alive and harassing over a very large area. But as the game progress, the players need to know their wind farming, late game resources and massive armies. To put it short - you need to know all levels of Total Annihilation.

These two players do.

The game starts off in small scale, scouts and flashes patroll the map looking for cons. Both players reclaim and expand quickly, Novice from the top left corner and Rock down southeast. A few cons are lost and the early stages of the game goes back and forth but neither side gets an upper hand.

ROCK tries to take the bottom left corner, building up a MT forest early supported by a lot of flashes. But to be able to do that, he has to give up the right side, leaving it without much protection. The mesa in the middle has a batle of itīs own, going back and forth.

Look for the small differences. A radar targeting, a con that was left idle for slightly too long, a bunch of flashes that went left instead of right. Even if both players are close to prefection on this map in this game, mistakes will be made. As well as good moves.

I wonīt spoil the ending, and the only bad thing there is to say about this game is that maybe the end came a bit too soon. The demo doesnīt enter late game and there are no huge armies in here. Still, itīs a recomended download and a good tutorial to Painted Desert.
