"I have been playing TA for about 6 months now and seem to have come to a point where i am not geting much better. Therefore I decided to upload this TAD and ask the reviewer for some constuctive criticism which would be much appreciated."
Well Andy. Itīs not an easy thing to answer because youīve reached the point where you wonīt be seeing any more big steps up the skill ladder. The learning curve for TA is very steep in the beginning, you could make a decent GoW ally in a week if you worked hard on it. But the more you learn, the harder it gets to improve. Iīve been playing TA with the same people for 5 years now and even though everyone knows the same stuff, know all tricks and tactics, some of us are better. It boils down to experience, routine, experience, number of games played and....experience. It takes 10 games for a GPP newbie to become good. But another 100 to make him an expert if you catch my drift.
Ragnar and you play the same style in this game. Same units, same kind of default GPP strategy. Heīs just better in all aspects. Let me list a few details.
1. Ragnarīs first scout came in too easy. It didnīt change the outcome of the game, but it was enough to give a small edge at the start. 2. Ragnar had a better mix of flashes/cons. When you lost a con, there was no replacement. 3. Your defense had bad timing. MTs were needed to protect your expansion, but were built when that expansion was already lost. 4. One thing leads to another. You lost more cons and mexxes, therefor you never got any solid defense, wich lead to even less expansion, less metal, less units and game over.
If you want to beat Ragnar one day, play him again. And again. And again. Watch demos, learn from mistakes and play again. No secret strats and tricks. Just experience.
As I said, climbing those last steps from a very good player up to the top is really hard. Many games for small improvements. One of the most well known experts on Zone got his 1v1 skills up by playing about 100-150 games against the same guy (who at first was better then him). Losing repeatedly until his skill slowly increased to the point when he got his first victory.
Look for guys like Rick, BlackFlag, Evilscott and other 1v1 experts and play until you beat them. Even if it takes 200 games. Thatīs the best advice, really. |
