An unusual GoW 2v2 we have here, with the almost-never-used hovers doing some real damage on a map where cruisers and pels are supposed to rule the seas. It will be interesting to see what happens when "regular" gamestyle meets something weird used skillfully.
On the right, we have Bean and Crustbow, with Bean as Core he obviously goes air first, even if his ally takes a while to start feeding him enough E. On the left, FrogNuker and Oz_Rules both go veh then sea where they will meet Crustbow in a not too distant future. Bean bombs well considering he faces 2 Veh first starts, and takes top easily. After a while tho he is forced to stop as both his opponents have now skeets and enough aa to block him. He then makes a bold move and goes Hover, for no particular reason it seems, while Crustbow is going Sea. It works pretty well, because as he has top isle, he has enough metal to get enough hovers to do some real damage, and forces the other team's skeets to fall back, and thus gains every wreck on the map with his air cons. But it is only the beginning, and Frog and Oz are building a strong tahooked economy, while only crustbow is able to do the same (and doing it pretty late having lost his SY to a sub). So we have wrecks on one side, and stronger economy on the other. Watch as the battle grows stronger, pels and cruisers appear, making it harder for those hovers. The average skill level (especially UC) sadly decreases a bit when entering late stage, and so edge battles are lost which could have been won, units go dying dumbly in ennemy defenses, and the final blow comes with a stupid mistake...
What do we have then ? a cool record showing an unusual strat (tho not new), and its quite interesting to watch it actually work. If the late game had been as fun as the beginning it would have been a top game. First game i recommend downloading :), if you want some ideas about destabilizing your opponents with something unusual but still efficient enough to not put you behind in the resources race.
On the technical side :
Battle Intensity : High. Skill balance between the 2 teams : all players are not of the same skill, but fairly distributed between the 2 teams. Average skill/Learning value : above average. Originality : You dont see hovers on gow every days :) Fun : first part is interesting, becomes a little boring in the end. |
