Would any of these guys last five minutes if they played today with the skills and strats showed in this demo? Probably not. Is this a game a good introduction to GoW, with lots of learning value? Nope.
Then why even bother to download? Because this, at the time, was something groundbreaking. Preen and 315 were among the top five or so in TA. GoW was the same back then as it is today, a map that everyone wanted to master. It was the place for challenges. When this game was played, pelicans and BB were feared. This was long before mass bomber and crusader control became standard. So basically, ARM was the one and only choice. In a series of matches 315 tried to play Core against the very best on GoW (including 5 games vs Rock). This one, against Preen, is perhaps the best of all those games.
Itīs not fast, or very efficent, or even smart buildorders compared to GoW as itīs played today. But look at the variation or units involved, the solutions in different situations and unit control.
Something for the oldtimers (Iīd be suprised if you havenīt seen it before though) or for the next generation wondering who that 315 guy was. |
