I think I figured out why Red Hot Lava is so underplayed.
Random TA guy tries out the map with a usual start buildorder, sigh at the wind, add an extra solar and then suddenly realise he has no metal left. Stall!
On GPP you can have some 400 metal left after building a lab. Red Hot Lava is quite the opposite, the first 10-20 minutes youīll be lucky if you have any stored metal at all. Rocks and wreckage is like gold on this map.

Scotty on the left side, tries a different strat by going all con in this game. Risky, but with the lack of metal there wonīt be any early flash armies so the plan isnīt suicidal. While expanding slowly, creeping out, Scotty also take his commander to the north section of the map.

Blank, who obviously doesnīt know what Scott is up to, goes for the usual mix of units and cons. Unfortunate for him, he keeps a few flashes for defensive purposes. And when his first raiding units comes to Scottīs base, they are too late and the MTs are coming up. How would this game have turned out had Blank been more offensive from the start? Feel free to speculate. On with the game!

Blank is faced with an unusual situation, Scott is turning the game into SimTA, building with speed and accuracy when taking over half the map. Blank decides to play the same game, shuts down the flash labs and brings out an army of cons. There havenīt been many casualties on either side until this point, and even if the resources are accelerating with Geos, the game slows down even more.

The con vs. con game could have been boring to watch, but turns into a demonstration in micromanagement and multitasking. Guardians are built on different sides of the maps, MT creeps are attempted from new angles. Slow motion TA that is easy to follow, but still under heavy pressure where many decisions have to be made. No dull moments here.

When Berthaīs comes into play, things start to get really intense and there is still no units involved. Check out the game to see who gets most out of his cons.

Technical facts, a concept brought to you by Abe, shamlessly stolen from Erindel:

Battle intensity : Very high for a game with almost nothing but cons. In any aspect, this is intense enough.
Skill balance between players : Balanced.
Average Skill/Learning Value : High. You donīt play this map a lot do you? And your con unit multitask isnīt this good, is it? :)
Originality : See above!
Fun : Sure was, thanks to Blank for sending it in.

Disclaimer - This game features some lag, that judging fromt he demo seemed to be as bad both ways, but might have been a determing factor for the outcome.
